We did the Moussaka from Delia Smith’s Complete Cookery Course. A lovely recipe with cinammon flavours coming through. We did some research online for a suitable pairing and found some recommended medium bodied Southern French Reds. We opened a bottle of Maurel Vedeau Merlot/Cabernet Franc from Costières de Nîmes bought from Tesco. After the first few sips this wine really started to work with the meal. In fact, we enjoyed the savoury aftertaste of the Moussaka best with the wine. It brought out a certain smoothness in it.
