We finished off Delia’s Moussaka from 22 September with a bottle of Berberana Rioja Reserva from Tesco. This was not a brilliant match and we were not sure why. The Tesco website describes this wine made from a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha as having a rich, velvety, smooth taste with black cherry flavours and spicy vanilla oak. Perhaps the wine was too much for the Moussaka and a less intensely-flavoured Rioja or a red from elsewhere in Spain might have worked better?
