A Southern French Red Pleasant with Lamb Casserole

We had Lamb and Aubergine Casserole from Supercook tonight.  We were looking for something a little less heavy than a New World Big Red so we tried Costières de Nîmes 2009 from Tesco.  We were pleased that this medium weight Southern French red made from Grenache and Syrah did not overwhelm this fairly lightly flavoured dish.  It was a pleasant match.
