We tried Saffron Chicken with Cashew & Raisin Pilaff from Waitrose’s weekend menu. However, we skipped the raisins. This recipe promised much but delivered little on flavour. It contained ground ginger, garlic, cinnamon, tomato puree, lemon juice and yoghurt and was OK, but just so bland. Teresa thought fresh ginger would have improved it. We paired the meal with a bottle of Il Papavero Pinot Grigio 2009 from Sunday Times Wine Club. Fortunately, this rich fruity, versatile Italian white went very well and rescued a somewhat disappointing culinary experience.
