We enjoyed the rest of the Daube de Mouton tonight (see Sat 5th March). After reheating it was more intensely flavoured than the previous night as might be expected. We went for Spain again and this time drank a bottle of Roqueta Tempranillo Barrel Selection 2008 from Sunday Times Wine Club. They describe it as a silken, barrel-aged Tempranillo with vibrant raspberry, cherry and vanilla oak aromas, concentrated ripe berry flavours and supple tannins. We think that describes it very well and it went superbly with the rich flavours of the stew. However, I wouldn’t agree with their description of the wine as being medium-bodied. We thought it was quite full-bodied and coped well with the powerful stew.
