An Average Spanish Red OK with Spaghetti Bolognese

We had Spaghetti Bolognese tonight – a midweek favourite.  We paired it with a bottle of Sierra Almiron 2009 from Sunday Times Wine Club.   This is a Spanish red blend from Castilla VdT.  This wine has received mixed reviews on the Laithwaites website.  Before tasting our chosen wine with our meal we always have a sip on its own.  We found this to be a fairly ordinary wine that was improved somewhat by the food pairing, which accentuated the red berry fruits. A pleasant match with the pasta, but not memorable.
