We enjoyed a Goulasch with a difference. Znojemsky Goulasch from Supercook, which contains red wine, paprika and gherkins, but unusually no sour cream. We tried a bottle of Casa del Rio Verde Merlot 2009 from Sunday Times Wine Club. The goulasch had quite intense savoury flavours and the gherkins added some piquancy. The combination really brought the cherry flavours in the wine to the fore and we thoroughly enjoyed this pairing.
