An Argentinian Torrontes Sauvignon Very Good with Chicken Tagine

We have just bought a new Crockpot slowcooker and a recipe book to go with it  – The Slow Cook Book by Heather Whinney (DK).  There are some really interesting recipes in it.  Watch this space as we try them out!  Anyway we decided to test drive a Tagine recipe in advance of a visit from some Tagine-loving friends at the end of the month.  Chicken, Aubergine and Tomato Tagine contains aubergines, cinnamon, chillies, cumin, chopped tomatoes, coriander and preserved lemons. We served it with couscous and harissa paste on the side.  A superbly-flavoured meal that we will definitely cook for our guests. We chose a bottle of Antakari Torrontes Sauvignon 2009, an Argentinian white from Sunday Times Wine Club. We last tasted this wine with a French sweet and sour pork dish (see 17 October 2010).  This time we tasted grapefruit, pineapple and orange flavours and the wine went well with the spicy and citrus flavours in the Tagine. A very pleasing match.
