Backwell Village Club’s “Real Ale-impics” 2012 – Another Successful Beer Festival

Backwell Village Club organised their “Real Ale-impics” Beer Festival over the weekend 8th to 11th November 2012.  2012 Beer Festival Poster (3)  As previously, proceeds were in support of children’s charity, BIBIC.

On the Saturday tasty bread and cheddar cheese was provided for free and entertainment in the evening came from the Channelers.

As usual a selection of excellent ales and ciders were on offer, notably Steam Fair from RCH, Bleddyn’s Celt Experience, Plain Ales Incognito and Hop Back Winter Lightning, with its spicy sage and onion flavours.  (Sounds weird, but it was very good).

However, my favourite was Bristol Beer Factory Bitter Kiwi (ABV 5.0%), which had beautiful tangy, fruity, citrus flavours.  A close second was Zerodegrees Pale Ale (ABV 4.6%), which is very much in the style of an American Pale Ale – rich and malty, combined with tangy floral and fruity flavours.

Congratulations yet again to Martyn Howell for another well-organised and successful festival.
