Teresa made a home-made minced beef stew, with root vegetables, beef stock, herbs, tomatoes, a little red wine, garlic and Worcester sauce. We opened a bottle of Holroyd Farm Shiraz/Petit Verdot 2007 from the Sunday Times Wine Club. This worked quite well. This is a big Australian red, with blackberry fruit, damson, plum and hints of smoky liquorice. However, this smooth, rich fruity example did not overwhelm the food.
