We enjoyed more of the lamb stew from the previous evening (see 28th Jan) and decided the dish could take a more full-bodied red, so we opened a bottle of Campo Viejo Rioja Reserva 2006 from Waitrose. We have drank and enjoyed a few bottles of Campo Viejo’s Crianza previously, so were anticipating a decent wine. We were not disappointed. This full-bodied red is a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo. We found it smooth with vanilla spice and red fruits and just as good a match as the Yecla red the previous evening.
