We enjoyed some more of Rachel Khoo’s Boeuf Bourguignon with Baguette Dumplings and we had in mind another powerful red that would be suitable.
We opened a bottle of Gran Tarapaca Syrah Reservado 2007 a Chilean red from the Sunday Times Wine Club. We have had a few examples of this wine but the last time we found it almost too powerful and strongly flavoured. (See 14th October 2011).
This time we felt the wine was still powerful, but in a nicely restrained way. We enjoyed its red fruits, along with spicy mocha and a long complex finish. The wine was every bit up to the strong flavours in the Boeuf Bourguignon. Another very good match.
