We cooked a quick midweek meal – Chicken Pasanda from the Chicken Cook Book. The chicken is cooked in a yoghurt-based sauce and is flavoured with chillies. We served it with rice and parathas.
We decided to drink a bottle of Campo Viejo Rioja Reserva 2006 from Costco with it. This reliable full-bodied Spanish red delivered red fruits and a spiciness to match the food. Whilst we were content with this pairing generally, we felt the spiciness of the curry slightly overpowered the wine on this occasion.
We have been similarly underwhelmed when pairing this particular wine with Indian food previously (see 23 March 2012), so something to bear in mind for the future.
